JW Construction is a local family building and property maintenance company based in Clitheroe, Lancashire, run by Justin Waterhouse a fully time served joiner. Justin started his working life straight from school where he served his apprenticeship with Fern Joiners in Clitheroe. Once he had completed his apprenticeship he went on to gain an ordinary and higher National Certificate in Building Studies at Accrington College. Justin then left and set up on his own in 2001, “I always wanted to run my own company and provide a proper professional building service”.
The company has grown steadily Justin surveys each and every job himself and provides comprehensive written quotations for all jobs, “we tackle all kinds of jobs, and we have built one off houses for clients from scratch from an initial idea right up to completion”
“We can take care of planning and the building control process, meaning that we really do provide the Complete Building Service”.
JW Construction is the product of 20 years of hard work and dedication. Our business has been built on consistent performance and unrelenting attention to detail so vital when building custom homes.
We are committed to maintain the highest level of craftsmanship through years of experience, knowledge and the will to supersede the expectations of our clients.
Communication is the key to a successful project. Our philosophy with our business is to establish a great client-builder relationship. This ensures a deeper level of understanding that allows us to accurately build homes through our customer’s visions and dreams.
It is our mission and purpose to provide the highest degree of honesty and integrity to provide the finest quality homes for our patrons.
We are loft conversion specialists managing every aspect from submitting of plans right through to completion of all finishing trades, leaving the completed conversion ready for decorating. At every stage we consult with client on progress and seek approval of choice of fittings, windows/doors/spindles etc. to match existing.
At JW Construction we operate a weekly payment structure which runs for the duration of the project with the first payment only due after the first full week on site. This system ensures that we only ever request payments for work that has already been carried out.
For the duration of construction you will be assigned a dedicated installation team. This team will not leave site until construction complete. We only ever use timeserved tradesmen for each individual trade. All electrical work undertaken comes with NIC certification.
All projects include all required scaffolding, skip hire and an outdoor contractors toilet. 90% of all building materials required for our loft conversions are mechanically lifted onto the scaffolding and enter the property through the roof, any debris leaves the property the same way and is removed from site. We only enter the existing area of the house towards the end of the project when the stairs are to be installed, at this stage will take every precaution to minimise disruption to the normal life of the occupants. A carpet protection system is laid to all necessary areas.
So, the tiled roof on your home is mis-behaving, the flashings around your chimney have perished, a couple of ridge tiles have fallen off, the rest are looking in very bad shape. When the ridge tiles fell off they damaged a few Slates/Tiles on the way down, some are split, some cracked and others have just fallen into the gutter. The breathable membrane under your tiles is now non-existent and the condensation is building up in your roof space which is not ventilated or insulated. The Bay window has started leaking and left nasty water marks on the ceiling in your front room, as has the velux window on your flat roof extension and the felt was damaged in the last storm and you’re concerned that it won’t make it through another winter.
All the above problems and many more are what we deal with every day. If your roof has not had much in the way of TLC over the last 10 years then the chances are these issues will soon present themselves.
We have over 30 skilled and experienced operatives that cover all aspects of roofing for your home, our directors were roofers themselves as boys and took over their father business, so you can be rest assured that we know what we are talking about.
Please contact us for your free quotation for repair works, refurbishments or new extensions and we will give you options to suit your requirements.
Flat to pitched roofing
If you have an old flat roof that suffers from ponding water, you may find that flat to pitched roofing could be the answer.
In a flat to pitched roof conversion, a new lightweight steel sub frame is built over the existing roof and then over-clad. They are assembled at roof level, and because they’re lightweight, there’s only limited increased weight on the building structure.
The new pitched roof allows rainwater to drain from the area completely that reduces the potential for future water ingress. Each system is bespoke, designed to suit the existing structure.
We’ve installed Flat to Pitched roof conversions for many years and for clients in many sectors. We’ll provide a thorough specification and clear quotation, and where possible we will look to provide fresh and innovative ideas about how best to carry out the work. As leading roofing refurbishment contractors, we’ll always ensure that our recommendations fit your budget and meet your long-term needs.
